Shortfill e-liquids are larger 50ml and 100ml bottles of high-VG, nicotine-free flavour, designed for sub-ohm tanks and box mods. The bottle is deliberately under-filled so you can add a separately-purchased nic shot at home to bring the total liquid up to 3mg nicotine. This is how UK regulations allow larger e-liquid volumes — pre-mixed nicotine is capped at 10ml, but unflavoured nicotine and 0mg flavour can be sold separately. Every shortfill we stock is TPD-compliant and MHRA-registered.

The two main UK shortfill formats: 50ml shortfill in a 60ml bottle — leaves room for one 10ml nic shot, ending up at 60ml of 3mg total. 100ml shortfill in a 120ml bottle — leaves room for two 10ml nic shots, ending up at 120ml of 3mg total. The maths is straightforward: 50ml of 0mg flavour + 10ml of 18mg nic shot = 60ml of 3mg nicotine. Both formats deliver dramatically better cost-per-ml than 10ml nic salts, which is why sub-ohm vapers favour them.

Five steps, takes about 60 seconds. 1. Buy a 0mg shortfill plus the right number of nic shots (one for 50ml, two for 100ml — most are 18mg/ml). 2. Open the shortfill, pour the nic shot in through the fill spout. 3. Close the cap firmly. 4. Shake well for 30–60 seconds. Some vapers gently warm the bottle in their hands while shaking. 5. Use as normal — fill your sub-ohm tank, prime the coil, vape. The mixed bottle is now equivalent to a 3mg flavoured e-liquid.

Almost all UK shortfills ship at 70/30 VG/PG or higher (80/20 in some premium ranges). Thick, smooth, designed for sub-ohm tanks with wide wicking. The high VG produces enormous vapour clouds and the lower PG keeps throat hit gentle enough that 3mg nicotine is comfortable. Don't put shortfills in pod kits — the high VG won't wick through small pod-kit holes and coils burn out within hours. Pod kits want 50/50 nic salts; sub-ohm wants 70/30+ shortfills. Match e-liquid to device.

Some shortfills benefit from steeping — letting the bottle sit unopened (or with the cap on after mixing) for 3–7 days. The flavour notes integrate and develop, particularly in dessert, custard, and tobacco profiles, which can taste flat straight from the bottle. Fruit and ice flavours are usually fine to vape immediately. Steeping is just sitting in a cupboard — no special technique required. Some vapers gently shake once a day during steeping; others ignore it. Both work.

Why is the bottle deliberately under-filled? UK TPD law caps pre-mixed nicotine bottles at 10ml. The under-fill leaves room for you to add a separately-bought 10ml nic shot at home. It's not a defect; it's the legal way to sell larger e-liquid volumes.

Can I vape shortfills without adding a nic shot? Yes — they're already 0mg. Some vapers prefer flavour-only vaping. The shortfill works fine without nicotine.

Can I add more than one nic shot to a 50ml shortfill? Mathematically yes, but you'll overflow the bottle. A 50ml shortfill takes one 10ml nic shot to fit in the 60ml bottle. For higher nicotine, use a higher-strength nic shot (rare) or decant some shortfill first.

How long does a 100ml shortfill last? A typical UK sub-ohm vaper finishes a 100ml bottle in 1–2 weeks because sub-ohm uses e-liquid 3–5x faster than pod kits. Heavy cloud chasers may go through one in under a week.
